Black on the Banks: African-American Students at Rutgers in the 1960s

Two-day conference for the Rutgers community, alumni, colleagues, and the public

During the 1960s, a small group of pioneering African-American students enrolled at Rutgers College and Douglass College. As Rutgers begins its 250th Anniversary year, this two-day forum will explore the challenges that these students faced and the achievements that were their legacy, and the broader issue of equity and access in higher education during this time.

All panel sessions are free and open to the public. Friday's panel sessions will be held at Neilson Dining Hall on the G.H. Cook Campus and Saturday's panel sessions will be held at Voorhees Hall on the College Avenue Campus at Rutgers University–New Brunswick.
