Rutgers Business School Hosts Homecoming Weekend Event featuring Steve Forbes, Editor-In-Chief of Forbes Media

In celebration of Rutgers University's 250th Anniversary, Rutgers Business School is hosting a weekend of events themed,"Coming Home: Honoring our Rutgers Heroes and Heritage." Hosted in partnership with Rutgers Athletics and State Theatre, planned events include a BIG TEN tailgate party, football game, Sunday brunch, and performances and presentations. Events will take place at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway and Heldrich Hotel and the State Theatre of New Jersey in New Brunswick. Uncovering American Jewish Life in 1766, 1866, and 1966

The Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life welcomes American Jewish history scholars Laura Arnold Leibman, Reed College; Annie Pollan, The Tenement Museum; and Tony Michels, University Wisconsin–Madison, who will present Uncovering American Jewish Life in 1766, 1866, and 1966. The event takes place at Trayes Hall at the Douglass Student Center in New Brunswick.

250th Anniversary Presidential Symposium: Transformational Science

Join President Robert Barchi and leading scholars for the second in a series of symposia. Participants will examine “Transformational Science,” focusing on the changing roles of the research university and the challenges and opportunities presented by these changes. Keynote speakers are the Honorable Rush D. Holt, the chief executive officer of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and former U.S. Representative for New Jersey's 12th congressional district, and Eric Green, the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health.

The event will also feature a panel discussion with Rutgers' scientists and Transformational Research Presentations by Rutgers faculty. A reception will follow the presentations.

Exhibition: Rutgers through the Centuries: 250 Years of Treasures from the Archives at Alexander Library

Rutgers through the Centuries: 250 Years of Treasures from the Archives opens on November 12, 2015, and will run through November 30, 2016. The exhibit features important historical documents; vivid photographic illustrations; and interesting, compelling, and often whimsical artifacts from the collections of the Rutgers University Archives. Among the treasures on display are the original printed copy of the 1770 Queen’s College Charter, portraits of past presidents and faculty, documents relating to Rutgers College becoming a land-grant institution in 1864, photographs and artifacts depicting 19th- and 20th-century student life, and other items related to the historical development of Rutgers from a colonial college founded in the 18th century to a comprehensive public research university in the 21st century. | Location: Gallery '50 and the Special Collections and University Archives Gallery, Archibald S.
