George Segal

A SEGMENT FROM THE SHORT FILM OUR REVOLUTIONARY SPIRIT

Rutgers alumnus George Segal is recognized as the preeminent sculptor of the Pop Art movement. His work displays a strong social conscience and appears in museums and public spaces around the world. The video is narrated by Shiza Chaudhary, Class of 2016, a student at Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts.

This is a segment from Our Revolutionary Spirit, a short film produced for Rutgers’ 250th anniversary. The film tells the stories of Rutgers trailblazers, blending archival photos and footage with narrators, scenes, and stories from the Rutgers of today.

WATCH OTHER SEGMENTS

Our Revolutionary Spirit is available in both a full-length version and as individual segments. Other segments from Our Revolutionary Spirit feature these stories: Simeon De Witt, a 1776 alumnus who served as George Washington’s geographer during the Revolutionary War; microbiologist Selman Waksman, winner of the Nobel Prize; actor and activist Paul Robeson; Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman; Lt. Gen. Flora Darpino, the Judge Advocate General for the U.S. Army; and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
