Committee on Instructional Technology

The Committee on the Near- and Long-Term Impact of Instructional Technology was formed to assess our educational technology infrastructure and to make recommendations for how to improve delivery in order to better respond to the educational needs of our students. Composed of faculty and instructional technology experts, the group was charged with developing a tactical institutional plan for exploring, testing, and implementing technology in our teaching and learning environments.

This charge was executed in two phases. Phase I spanned from May 2014 to April 2015 and culminated in the publication of the committee's interim report. The data from Phase I informed the development of three key strategic planning goals, which were further articulated in Phase II:

  1. Advance the development and application of effective teaching methods and practices through the use of innovative instructional technology
  2. Standardize and enhance traditional classroom spaces, develop technology- enabled alternative learning spaces, and build an infrastructure that virtually connects classrooms, students, and instructors
  3. Encourage and enable coordination, access, and effective exchange of information, content, and capability for and throughout the university community

The committee published a final report in August 2017 with recommendations for specific initiatives that support these strategic goals.
