Stan the Horse gets a pat from biochemist David Lester while research assistant Jane Atkinson helps keep Stan on a scale, which records his weight before he takes part in an experiment in 1967. Today Rutgers Equine Research Center is a national model for equine research. The New Jersey Farm Bureau calls director Karyn Malinowski "equine ag’s peerless advocate."
