In Memoriam

John R.H. Gilmour, Retired Faculty, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on January 01, 2007. Professor Gilmour was a member of the School of Business.

Calling hours will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, N.J. The funeral will be Saturday, January 6, at 10 a.m. at Cranford United Methodist Church, 201 Lincoln Ave. East, Cranford. Entombment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, on Saturday.

Born on July 27, 1915, in Staten Island,
N.Y., Mr. Gilmour was the son of the late Anthony and the late Mabel
(Maguire) Gilmour. Mr. Gilmour was a college professor at the Rutgers
University Graduate School of Business in Newark. Later in his career,
he transferred to the undergraduate school, also in Newark, to create a
very successful accounting program. Upon Mr. Gilmours retirement from
Rutgers in 1948, the John R.H. Gilmour Annual Public Accounting Award
was established in his name. He completed his undergraduate degree at
Columbia University in New York City and received his masters in
business at New York University. Mr. Gilmour served in the Army Air
Corps from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. He was a member and past
president of the N.J. Inventors Society, a member of the Teachers Union,
editor of the N.J. CPA Association Journal, and a lifetime member of St.
Andrews Society - the oldest charity in the United States. Mr. Gilmour
was the devoted husband of Elizabeth, the beloved father of Barbara Lea
Rawson and husband, Doug, John R.B. Gilmour and wife, Deborah, Laurie
Sue Aylward and husband, Jim, and was predeceased by daughter, Elizabeth
LeBreton. He was the cherished grandfather of five and great-grandfather
of seven, and loving brother of Kay Skeele. He was also survived by many
nieces and nephews.
