In Memoriam

John Bezpa, died on 10/24/2011.

Visitation hours are Thursday, Oct. 27, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, N.J. A short service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Committal will be private.

John Bezpa, 87, passed away peacefully at home, on Oct. 24, 2011.

Born on the family farm in West Paterson, he grew up helping build the Bezpa Poultry Farm into a well-known poultry producer in New Jersey. Mr. Bezpa proudly served an enlistment in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, where he served as navigator on a B-29 bomber. During his service in the Pacific Theater, he was based on Tinian Island, and participated in many bombing missions in service to his country. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as the Air Medal. Mr. Bezpa was a Professor Emeritus and specialist in Poultry Science at Cook College, Rutgers University. He retired from Rutgers in 1988, after 34 years of service to New Jersey's poultry industry, where he was a renowned expert as a liaison between research and the field. Mr. Bezpa had a great passion for maintaining his lawn and working on the many building projects he completed around the house. He took particular joy in being around his grandchildren, Kylie and Jake. John was predeceased by his loving wife Marilyn (Bixby) Bezpa, who passed away in 2006. Surviving are his son, Bruce Bezpa and his wife, Ellen, of Piscataway, N.J.; his daughter, Barbara Bezpa and her husband, John Roblin, of Annandale, N.J. and his grandchildren, Kylie and Jake Bezpa.
