In Memoriam

Arthur Taub, Board of Trustees, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on June 14, 2010. Mr. Taub was a member of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy.

Arrangements are under the direction of Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick. Services for Mr. Taub will be held at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple 222 Livingston Ave. New Brunswick, Today at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, New Brunswick.

Arthur Lawrence Taub, Born October 7, 1926 to Raphael and Sylvia Taub nee Spilberg in Newark, NJ. Graduated West Side High School in Newark and entered Montclair State Teachers College and Syracuse University where Arthur graduated in 1948 after serving honorably in the US Army Headquarters I Corps provisional government Tokyo, Japan. After completing Syracuse with a BS in Biology, Arthur entered Rutgers College of Pharmacy in Newark, NJ where he met and married Ann Janet Zar of New Brunswick, NJ, daughter of Lenore and Joseph Zar. Ann and Arthur married their senior year of pharmacy school during spring break, March 1951. After graduation and working separately as community pharmacists Ann and Arthur opened and operated Taub Pharmacy in East Brunswick, NJ for 20 years. During his years as a community pharmacist Arthur served as President of the Middlesex County Pharmaceutical Society. Arthur also served on the Board of Trustees for the New Jersey Pharmaceutical Association becoming its Director of Membership Services for some 20 years. Arthur continued to serve the community, pharmacy and his Alma Mater as a member of the Board of Trustees at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. During his service as a trustee Arthur was appointed Chairman of the College of Pharmacy Trustee Advisory Committee, inducted into the Rutgers Phonathon Hall of Fame, served as the Chairman of the 38th Annual Rutgers Pharmacy Conference and became the College of Pharmacy Alumnus of the Year. After serving as a Trustee for 12 years, Arthur was bestowed Trustee Emeritus Honor for which he served proudly until his passing.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann J Zar; daughter, Sylvia Taub Ames and husband Steven Alan Ames of NYC; sons, Rabbi Joshua S Taub and wife Debra Edelman Taub of Beaumont Texas, and Arden J Taub and wife Amy Fleischner Taub of Tenafly NJ; granddaughters, Maxine Rachel Ames, Naomi Sarah Taub, Stephanie Lauren Taub, Marlee Rose Taub and Olivia Jordan Tau
